This was a fun little project I did for a local swing dance club. There were few preferences or guidelines given, which left the design almost completely up to me! I pored through old Count Basie, Benny Goodman and band concert posters from the 30s looking for inspiration and came up with this. I wanted to have fun with a nice retro style, and the colors and general business of the card were meant to convey this. However, I also wanted to add something of a modern feel, as the Lindy Hop dance is very much alive and well. In this sense I think the sans-serif typefaces do a fine job of appearing 21st century while still giving the impression that they could fit into the swing era.
